Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology

WELCOME

Dear Prospective Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology at Florida Atlantic University Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), accredited by the American Psychological Association. Congratulations on getting to this point in your training. FAU CAPS is a comprehensive university counseling center that provides services to students enrolled in the university. FAU is the most diverse university in the state university system and we were recently designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The clients seen at CAPS represent the diversity of the student body and therefore interns will gain experience working with clients from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.

CAPS is passionate about its internship program and training the next generation of psychologists. Some of the greatest strengths of our internship program are our staff and their passion for training, the ability for interns to customize their training experience, and the values that drive the training program. You can learn more about the values of our program and unique training experiences that we offer throughout our website.

The clinical staff at FAU CAPS consists of 22 full-time Psychologists and Mental Health Counselors, a Community Resource Specialist, several part-time clinicians, 3 Doctoral Interns, 2 post-docs, and 5 Externs. We see interns as part of our full-time staff, while also being committed to their growth as future psychologists. Our staff represents a variety of theoretical orientations and although we all practice as generalists, we also possess a range of specialized skill sets.

We hope that you find our training website full of information that will inform your application process. Thank you for considering our program and please feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions about our program. We wish you all the best during this exciting time in your training.
